| Match report | On the back of last weeks win we are starting to smell the small chance of a shot at the title this season and today could have been an important factor in if we dare or dare not dream of it. we took a strong squad for the game its always difficult with a squad of 18 and again we felt for the lads not selected for this squad game. The opposition were the old Osbaldwick side and while we have a good track record against them with a number of comfertable wins under our belt it was best not to take anything for granted. from the off we were always the stronger looking of the teams although the ground was very claggy and we struggled for the early part of the game to get things moving around however towards the end of the second half the lads were starting to find some from and started stringing some nice peices of play together this ultimatley paid off and David Thompson slotted on 1-0 it was a well played goal with some great balls in from Luke and Mitch which enabled David to get on the end of them and be a danger, this continued and davids second although in the area could go down as a goal of the season from the passing and movement of players that set it up 2-0. Midfeild were getting in the act and Aaron Luke, Freddie and Oli were making a real nuiscance of themselves the ball dropped to Freddie and he still had plenty to do but he struck it superb and set up with the luxery of a 3 goal cushion. Scott Stan Guy and Ben kept cools heads and were able to shackle the opposition for a lot of the game and at times we had them pressed into thier own half unable to get the ball out. Seth and Oli B came on Frankie went in a right back when stan took a knock and those guys continued the battle. at half time we kept it pretty much the same and but started to look at lads in different areas. Oli B got us up to 4-0 again some great play form the lads to offer scoring chances and you can see confidence growig in the palyers. swtiching things around kind of stifled proberble the chances of goals for us but it was a comfert zone we were playing in and we need to see who can play where as it is a long season and you never know. Oli B grabbed another it was a ball through from Mitch it couldve been going in but Oli B made sure 5-0, it wasnt Mitches day although he set up enough goals his wouldnt seem to go in our 6th was the same a lovely shot from Mitch and it went in off a wilberfoss lad 6-0. This was a good solid performance from the lads and we can certainly take a lot from this game, our pattern has been to win in great way like last week against easingwold and then struggle the week after, Billy didnt have much to do today but was sharp when needed. Man of the matc today as usual was heavily contested there were some great performances Oli C, Scott, Mitch, Stan, aaron to name a few but his running, balls through and his attitude today it had to go to Luke Pendall for a spectacualr performance well done. |
