| Match report | Fulford secured a place in the York FA Cup Semi-Finals with a convincing win versus Thorpe Reds. With a strong wind blowing straight down the pitch, it was definitely a good toss to win. Fulford took full advantage of the wind at their backs in the first half and were one nil up within 2 minutes when James scored from close range. Fulford quickly began to dominate the game and were playing some great football with some sweeping moves out from defence and through central midfield. Will T added a second goal and Isaac got the third when he was on hand to score from close range following an excellent move which culminated in a good left wing cross from Ross. James scored the fourth and Frankie got the fifth when he dribbled past three defenders in the box and slotted it past the keeper. Ross scored the sixth which capped a fine first half display on the left wing where he gave the team great width and was always a threat when he ran at the Thorpe defence. The seventh came half way through the second half and was the pick of the goals. Isaac collected the ball deep in his own half. Harrison came short to receive the ball and passed it short to Tom H. Tom H played a nutmeg pass square to James who sent a through ball to Will who ran on to slot the ball past the keeper into the far corner. Thorpe Reds scored with about 5 minutes remaining thanks to a good run and shot from their Centre Forward. Ross was a much-derserved man of the match for the impact he had on the left wing and there were also good performances from Ollie in centre midfield and Tom G who put in some great ball winning challenges and switched the play to good effect on numerous occasions. |
