Match report   If had you looked at the season's results thus far it would have been easy to have taken this for granted as a guaranteed win but Brooklyn's physicality soon knocked any traces of complacency out of the lads. This was a bruising encounter! Tackle after tasty tackle made this feel like the early 1970s; I wouldn't have been surprised to see Ron Harris and Johnny Giles pop up in the middle of the pitch, hands at each other's throats!

At no time did we feel that the victory wouldn't be ours, but a deeply frustrating off-side trap kept catching Alex and Josh out. Alex's first goal was further evidence of his improved finishing skills and his eventual hat-trick took him to 40+ goals for the season - quite a remarkable feat. With an own-goal to round off the first half we were comfortably leading after 40 minutes.

The second half was as tasty as the first with Joe Tomsett provoking the Brooklyn boys into some thunderous challenges - he was given player of the match by Gabbers to make up for the chunks taken out of his legs.

What was satisfying about this win was the all-round quality - not one below par performance. Dan and Josh Ford made great contributions when they came on; Ben was solid again in goal; Gianni showed real steel in the tackle, and Liam was solidly immense as always. Carlito shone in the midfield, where Tom Russell and Josh Quarmby went about their work with minimal fuss and maximum efficiency. Scully and Will mixed it with the bigger Brooklyn lads and had tasty games, and Emlyn was his no-nonsense sensible self.

The last man to mention is Josh Moran, whose game has improved no end this season. His second goal was a deftly executed lob after Joe's thirty yard screamer put the Brooklyn defence in trouble and his hat-trick strike was taken with real aplomb - a net-ripper which left the brave Brooklyn keeper thoroughly beaten.

Next week we're away at Pickering. If we win at Flamingoland, then there are three games left - home to Huntington and the double-header with Tadcaster. When we met on Ricardo's lawn eight months ago we would have been very happy to be where we are with four games to go. It's in the boys' hands now and we're all sure they can do it!
