| Match report | Fulford notch another victory in their pursuit of the Promised Land! On a windswept, claggy Parish Field the FFC first team ran out worthy winners to take the points tally to 30 for the season. As a spectacle the game was rather spoiled by the heavy going and the non stopside wide but a first half Jamie H penalty and a second half strike from Sam Pepper sealed the win. The first half opened with Ford pressing and two clumsy challenges by the Service centre half left the ref with no option to award the inevitable penalty; Jamie stepped up to coolly slot home and Ford were on their way. It wasnt all one way traffic though as Service kept probing and trying to unleash their classy no.11, and it took a fine double save from Arron to keep the score at 1-0 at HT. Same pattern in the second half but the quality of football improved and a number of opportunities came and went either side of 'Ford's second goal. This came as a superb effort from Dave came back off the bar, having beaten the keeper all ends up, for Sam Pepper to bury the rebound. Once again the evergreen Dave Warner led the line and the team with a strong performance, matched by Man of The Match Toddy at the back. The rest of the squad all grafted to ensure the win and we move on to the match v Wheldrake at home next week. 5 to go and Rufforth drawing with Elvington was a welcome boost too! |
