| Match report | In a wind-affected game Fulford sustained their second league defeat of the season to a controversial goal. Against the wind in the first half we conceded two soft goals. But after a rasping half-time talk from Mr Gabbiadini the boys looked more themselves in the second half. The midfield showed increased bite with Carl and Josh Q steadily getting the upper hand and providing the launch pad for increased pressure on the Osbaldwick goal. Fulford got back into the game with an outstanding goal from Tom Russell. Although we had most of the possession and goal attempts during this period, Osbaldwick remained dangerous on the counter-attack and Scully and Emo needed to remain strong and vigilant to keep Fulford in the game. The equaliser came after yet another sustained period of Fulford pressure with Mickey particularly effective on the right flank. Alex added to his tally as the ball broke to him in the area and he slotted it in nicely. Fulford had sufficient pressure to take the lead but poor finishing kept the scores even into the last few minutes of the game. Looking to maximise their lead at the top of the division Fulford pressed for the winner but got hit on the break to a goal with more than a hint of offside and hand-ball about it. Passions flared in the last few minutes with the referee hearing something from Alex which caused him to show his red card. A disappointing result but a strong second half performance should not leave the boys too disheartened. |
