Match report   A convincing win against game opposition took the boys one step closer to the end of the season; whilst it is way too early to be talking about winning titles - a number of teams are still in with a shout - points in the bag are always preferable to having games in hand.

Harry Bedford got us on our way with a great left foot stike and Alex soon made it two with a very competent finish. He has certainly come on this season - from the first game against Rufforth when a dozen chances went begging to today when he converted all four of his major opportunities to notch. Gabbiadini would like to take credit for Alex's improved strike-rate; well, that's what he'd like to do. Instead he can take credit for Josh Moran's early introduction as sub for Harry which saw Josh score with his first touch. Genius!?

The first half finished with us seven goals to the good without reply, through two strikes by Tom Russell, another one from Alex and the pick of the bunch from Carl Brewer, who accepted Alex's flick pass and smashed it past the keeper on the volley. The back four was solid, with Liam demonstrating his authority, Pavs and Emlyn strong in the centre and Gianni coping well with some speedy left wingers. Joe Tomsett continued to cultivate his five-yard passing skills and dominated the centre of midfield in a tidy manner.

Gabbiadini rested players in the second half, with one eye on the forthcoming fixtures. Downhill, downwind one would have expected the boys to rack up the goals, but they only added three more through Mikey and a further Forster brace, whilst the opposition managed two in reply. Indeed, North Duffield could have scored more if not for a superb penalty save to his left from Ben. Dan Ford made a solid contribution in the second half, Josh Quarmby was quietly outstanding and the boys played out a very comfortable win.

This is no time for the faint-hearted. With five games to go we're well-placed in the league; however, Gabbiadini is relatively inexperienced when - as Fergie says - it comes to "squeaky-bum time" and it remains to be seen whether he is able to shuffle his pack and produce a winning hand next week when the going promises to get tougher.
