Match report   The final league game of the season saw Fulford visit York RI. The lads were playing some great football in the pre-match warm-up and this was taken into the game as Fulford dominated the opening stages with some excellent possession football. The defence and midfield were combining particularly well as Fulford enjoyed playing on what was probably the biggest 11 a side pitch they've played on this season.

Fulford took the lead after 5 minutes when they were awarded a free-kick about thirty yards out. Isaac hit a powerful shot towards the near corner, but as a York RI defender attempted to clear it, the ball was sliced in to the far corner of the net.

Fulford could have been two up shortly after when Joe C hit a right foot shot from outside the box, which seemed destined for the far corner. The ball struck Olly on the back and fell nicely into his path, but his shot went narrowly wide.

York RI had a chance to equalise mid way through the half, but Peter was off his line sharply and dived to his left to pull off a good save.

Fulford continued to dominate, but the York RI keeper was in inspired form. He made a number of good saves, the pick of them was as good as any save that we've seen all season, when Harrison hit a sweet half-volley from just outside the box. The ball was heading towards the top left hand corner, but the keeper showed fantastic agility to dive full length and get his fingertips to the ball to turn it on to the bar and out for a corner.

In the second half, York RI were more in the game and equalised with 15 minutes to go, when the York RI striker slotted the ball past Peter with a neat finish.

Fulford looked like they would have a chance to re-take the lead when a great run from Isaac saw him brought down just inside a box. All the players and spectators were waiting for the ref to point to the spot, but the ref awarded a free kick to York RI as he believed that Isaac had dived!!

With 10 minutes remaining there was further drama, when York RI took the lead. The ball was squared from the left wing to York RI's left back who shot from just outside the box. Peter got his fingertips to it, but the ball dropped back over his head. He managed to claw the ball away and Fulford defenders were on hand to clear it, but the ref ruled that the ball had already crossed the line. The Fulford players were as convinced as the Spurs players later would be that day, that the whole of the ball had not crossed the line, but in both instances the referee's opinion was the one that counted.

From the kick-off Fulford surged forward in search of an equaliser, and it came two minutes later when Olly played the ball through to Joe C who'd made a great diagonal run, and from just inside the box Joe smashed the ball into the roof of the net, to cap what had been an entertaining game.

The League Campaign has therefore seen Fulford finish in 2nd place, with one more point than in the 2010/11 season, which is a good achievement in the first year of 11 a side football, however congratulations must go to the players, manager and parents of Poppleton Tigers for winning the league without losing a single game, which is a truly outstanding achievement.
