Match report   On a lovely Spring evening, Fulford welcomed Kirbymoorside to York for a friendly match. Kirbymoorside have finish 2nd in the Scarborough League this season, so it promised to be a good game.

Fulford started started the game in great form and for the first 20 minutes were first to everything and produced as good a display of passing football as they've done so far this season. Fulford nearly went one up early on when Ross slid in to get on the end of a cross shot from Joe C, but he was unlucky to see it bounce back off the post.

After 5 minutes the first goal came when Tom G played a lovely through ball for Will T to run on to, and he slid the ball past the keeper.

A few minutes later, Fulford increased their lead when Joe C shot from distance. The ball was spilled by the keeper and Will T was on hand to tap in. From the half-way line Will had looked as though he was clearly offside, but those spectators in line with play confirmed that the ref had got it spot on, and Will had timed his run to perfection.

Fulford made it 3-0 after 15 minutes when a cross was only partially cleared to Harrison who met it 8 yards out and sent a right foot volley into the bottom left hand corner.

Many teams may have crumbled at this point, but Kirbymoorside continued to stick to their footballing principles of playing a neat passing game, and they were duly rewarded when they pulled a goal back when a good move led to their centre forward finding the far corner with a well hit cross shot.

Kirbymoorside pulled back another goal on the stroke of half-time when their striker ran onto a through ball and went around Peter and slid the ball into an empty net.

In the second half Kirbymoorside levelled the game when a long range shot crept in at the far corner.

With 15 minutes remaining Kirbymoorside completed a spectacular turnaround in fortunes when a powerful long range shot gave them the lead for the first time in the game.

After this Fulford started to re-asert themselves and refound the dominance of possession and territory that they'd enjoyed in the first half.

With 5 minutes remaining a Joe C corner was flicked on by Will M and Frankie was on hand from six yards out to equalise with an emphatic half-volley side-foot finish.

Fulford were still not finished and surged forward in search of the winner. Joe C carried the ball from deep in his own half and looked to play the ball through for the strikers. The pass was blocked, but it fell back to Joe who passed to Will T, who picked up the ball 25 yards out. Frankie made a great run, which did enough to pull away a defender to allow Will to surge through the middle of the pitch and into the box and slide the ball past the keeper to complate his hat-trick.

It was a cracking finish to a fantastic match and all the players involved from both sides can be proud of the part they played in producing a really entertaining game of football.

Many thanks to Ian, and all from Kirbymoorside for coming through to York on a Friday evening for the match.
