Match report   The Sky cameras decided to focus their attention on a peripheral derby in Manchester rather than trundle down to Queen's Gardens for the second meeting in a week of Fulford and Tadcaster Magnets at Under 15s. It was their error as this game had everything the viewers would have loved. There was much to anticipate before kick-off in this potential championship and promotion decider. The same teams displayed some outstanding football a week earlier, together with bookings, a sending off and a narrow defeat for Fulford.

The second contest had as much quality and controversy as the first. Taddy scored first directly from a free kick, but Fulford responded rapidly with Scully adroitly slotting home as Tadcaster failed to clear a corner. For the rest of the first half Fulford showed some of their best football of the season. Rock solid across the back four, quick and incisive in midfield and direct and threatening up front, they could have scored 3 or 4 during this period. However, Fulford went in 2-1 up at the break with Joe's outstanding 20 yard drive.

The second half was much tighter and Fulford knew they had a fight on their hands to retain their lead in the face of some 'unusual' decisions by the referee. Tadcaster were awarded a penalty which they duly missed, and Fulford had keeper, Tom R, to thank for some outstanding saves for which he deservedly takes player of the match. In the end Tadcaster managed to get the ball over the line to draw the game. Despite the disappointment of dropping a point the boys can be proud of how they performed against one of the strongest teams in the division. Carlos, Alex, Bedo and Liam should be mentioned in dispatches for working themselves into the ground for the cause.

Tadcaster's subsequent victory over Rufforth ensured much deserved promotion for Fulford and ensures the excitement of a season in Division 1 at Under 16s.

The final word should be for Signor Gabbiadini, Fulford's long suffering coach. Despite the unwavering support of his loyal backroom staff, at some points of the season the press were suggesting his management days were numbered following some questionable selection and tactical decisions. But now Fulford's Chairman is terrified that his next phone call may come from Liverpool or Villa seeking Ricardo's services to restore their flagging fortunes. How much changes over a season?!
