| Match report | This was our 3rd meeting with Panthers in 7 weeks. With today being Remembrance Sunday, a minute’s silence was respectfully observed ahead of kick off. Hamilton Panthers started very brightly and were ahead after 2 minutes when a ball was played through for their striker to run on to, and he produced a fine finish by curling it into the bottom right hand corner. Fulford hit back straight away when Joe chipped the ball through to Will and he slotted it past the keeper. The second came shortly after when a right-wing corner from Isaac was turned in by Will from close range. Will completed a 7 minute hat-trick, when some good build up play involving James, Dan, & Harrison led to the ball being squared to Joe. His shot was deflected straight into the path of Will who squeezed the ball past the advancing keeper. Hamilton Panthers nearly pulled a goal back, but Peter got back in time to make an excellent goal line clearance. The fourth Fulford goal came when James lifted the ball over the Panthers defence which Harrison controlled and then lashed into the roof of the net. Fulford’s fifth followed a fine move down the left. Isaac played the ball through to Will, who held off the challenge of two defenders to get in a shot that the keeper got to, but trickled over the line. Unfortunately, just before half-time, a Panther’s forward fell awkwardly and looked to have sustained a serious leg injury. However, subsequent news was good and the injury did not turn out to be as bad as first feared, but all from Fulford wish Harry a speedy recovery and hope that he’s back in action soon. In the second half, Fulford continued to put together some good attacking moves. The sixth goal came when Harrison sent Dan through on goal. The keeper saved the first shot, but Dan was first to the rebound. The 7th was probably the goal of the game. A great move out of defence saw the ball played up to Will, who laid it off to Harrison. He put a great slide-rule ball through to Isaac, and his excellent right-wing cross was side-foot volleyed in by Dan at the near post. Sustained pressure by Fulford eventually saw the ball drop to Harrison who scored with another powerful shot for the 8th. Panthers pulled a goal back late on when they broke down the right and a hard low shot found the far corner. The final goal came when Will pounced on a loose ball in the box and hit a superb half volley into the top left corner of the net, to complete an excellent victory for Fulford. |
