Match report | Fulford were able to keep an impressive Wigginton team at bay for almost the entire 1st half with some great last ditch tackles from Sam and Jack and some impressive keeping from Sedar. Luke and Liam combined well and forced consecutive corners. Sam L was well placed to fire from the edge of the area but was just unable to get a shot away. Fulford finally conceded just before half time as Wigginton pressure and swift ball movement pulled us out of position. Wigginton grew in confidence and they went 2-0 up when a hard low cross struck the unfortunate Luke who could do nothing to avoid the ricochet off him going past a stranded Sedar. This was probably the turning point of the match and heads seemed to drop. Wigginton snatched a third before the break. With tired legs, and knocks sustained by Jack and Luke, as well Jonathon tiring after a recent illness, frustration grew and the final whistle couldn't come soon enough as Wigginton showed their class. Mention here must be made of Joe, Harle and Sam who got on with the game in a most professional and dedicated manner, with well timed defensive tackles, holding position and covering breaks and chasing back when others flagged and it was this attitude which earnt Sam the Man of the Match. |
