Match report | Despite the 5-1 scoreline this was a much closer game than the scoreline suggests. Brooklyn came at us from the off and we were penned back in defence and were grateful for a goal line clearance from Sam and the first of several great saves from Ethan. Fulford however opened the scoring with a brilliant team goal. Liam bringing the ball out of defence released Joe down the right who returned the favour. Liam's cross was parried by the keeper only as far as Jack who had run the length of the pitch to finish emphatically. The second came when Sedar feigned a pass out to Joe, cut inside and drilled a right footed effort in from the edge of the box. Brooklyn continued to press and managed to pull a goal back on the stroke of half time. In the second half Ethan pulled off a string of magnificent saves to thwart the tiring Brooklyn team while Joe and Liam continued to combine skilfully down the right hand side and were always a threat on the break. Liam finally got a clear chance to slot home to make it 3-1 before Joe found himself gifted the ball on the edge of the box. He lashed a ferocious shot into the top right hand corner (reminiscent of Trevor Brooking v Hungary in 1981). Joe also tapped in to make it 5-1 in the dying seconds. Man of the Match was Joe for keeping chalk on his boots and always being the out ball; for the excellent combination with Liam and for his 2 goals |
