Match report   Joe returned in goal for this game, and the dependable Sedar was back in defence with Jack who promised to curb his marauding runs for the next 20 minutes.

Ethan played a blinder in the 'Makalele' role which left Luke, Jonathan and Liam to spear head the attack.

From the start we were camped in the Bishopthorpe half. They had little answer to our high press, energy and ball control. Little answer other than an inspired keeper who somehow tipped a goal bound effort from Ethan out for a corner. We still don't know how he got to that. Luke cut in from the left, shook off some sturdy tackles and saw another shot smothered by the Bishy number 1. Jonathan and Liam both flashed efforts wide which on another day could have seen Fulford up by 3 or 4 goals (Jonathan even struck the post from a corner!).

Bishopthorpe did begin to gain some territory but Jack and Sedar were a match, protected by Ethan and backed up by the dependable Joe. There was, however, nothing we could do prevent a superb dipping shot from distance from the Bishopthorpe midfielder who latched on to a Fulford clearance.

1-0 down at half time we continued in the same vein. What a shame then after a series of corners, including a dubiously retaken corner that Bishy took a 2 goal lead- a shot fro the edge of the box (similar to Ethan's in the first half ) was goal bound - Joe took off, only for the ball to clip Jonathan's heel and deflect into the net. Results can swing on such margins!

The Man of the Match Award was shared by the whole team.

Ethan - character and determination recovering to produce a string of fine saves and show mastery as a deep lying midfielder.

Joe - Some great touches outfield and as ever, holding Bishopthorpe at bay.

Jack - swift and determined in defense and for curbing the kamikaze runs forward!

Harle - holding position, more great close control and interplay with Luke

Luke - at the heart of all the good passages of football we played today

Sedar - solid and upright in defense, great headers and some super last ditch tackles

Jonathan - played wherever asked, unlucky not to score 2 or 3 today with sharp shooting

Clemmie - for the amazing energy as the lone striker, a well-deserved goal too.

Liam - linking defense and attack, and great character and sportsmanship when heads were down.

Sam L - on a day of limited attacking opportunities Sam showed amazing maturity in defense - hanging back to cover breaks and some phenomenal goal line stops.
