| Match report | The Ebors went out looking for revenge after losing the first match narrowly but a good, solid in defence Poppleton again took the lead. However, a few minutes later, Oliver did very well to get on the end of a cross from Joseph to bring the match level. In the second half, the Ebors defence found itself out of position and Euan had no chance to stop Poppleton taking the lead . The Ebors were soon back in it when Jack played a great ball through to Alex who went round the keeper to bring the game level again. On their next attack, Tilly played an excellent ball through to Alex who was brought down outside the opposition box and fired the free kick into the roof of the net off the inside of the crossbar to put the Ebors in the lead 3 2 with five minutes to go. Poppleton then raised their game and came back at the Ebors with Euan making some superb saves but it was not to be and Poppleton scored a quick two goals from good passing moves originating from solid clearances from their defence. Euan didn’t lose heart and came out to block another attack taking a knock on his knee in the process. The Ebors kept on fighting till the end but, as in the first match, succumbed to a breakaway goal to give Poppleton a more convincing looking victory than was deserved. The Ebors should take pride in their two performances this morning as every player put in a great performance against a strong well drilled Poppleton side. It was a day which saw a great goalkeeping display, a defence which stayed in position, tackled and concentrated for the full match and strikers who took their opportunities. |
