Match report   Having marched convincingly into the semis, Fulford may have been forgiven for taking the foot off the gas. But everyone was keen to produce their best form in whichever position they played (perhaps playing for their semi-final place!).

Just like Ron Greenwood could take his pick from Ray Clemence and Peter Shilton, so Fulford seem blessed with two of the best keepers around, and so it proved as Ethan seemed to keep a lively Knaresborough at bay single-handedly throughout the game.

With the momentum from the confidence-boosting cup game Fulford were not afraid to express themselves, with some lovely interpassing between Liam and the two Lukes. It was a defense-splitting pass from Jonathon that released Liam to race on and slot it past the big Knaresborough keeper.

As legs grew tired the Tricky Knaresborough strike force managed to work a number of opportunities. Ethan found himself bravely diving at the feet of onrushing strikers on several occasions. He brilliantly parried a shot but could only divert it into the path of another opposition striker who could not miss. Knaresborough thought they’d taken the lead, but they did not account for Ethan producing a finger tip save that diverted a stunning shot onto the underside of the bar and down onto the goal line – just like 1966, it was not deemed to have crossed the line by eagle eyed Ref, Kev

It was 1-1 at half time and the match was very open and even. Luke H orchestrated a brilliant move down the left with one-twos and a nutmeg to put his team mate through. Could have been goal of the season.

As Knaresborough pressed to take the lead a break away was always on – Luke F broke clear after yet another slick move and made it 2-1. A minute later he put the game to bed with a similar break. In the dying seconds a Knaresborough punt caused confusion in defense and it was unfortunately diverted past the brilliant Ethan by the unlucky Sam.

A fantastic morning with performances to match.
