Match report   After the brilliant performance in the semis last week hopes were high that we could improve on the 10-0 reverse we suffered earlier in the season. We certainly did that despite suffering the last minute withdrawal of Jack who’d kicked a chair at home this morning, leaving him sidelined with a toe injury. (Didn’t Rio Ferdinand used to do that!).

With Tony’s team short too, thanks must go to Clemmie who helped out. So the defensive back line had to be reshuffled with Ethan filling in to accompany Sam. Without the possibility of substitutes, it was going to be difficult against a Bishopthorpe team able to bring a fresh pair of legs on every few minutes.

Undaunted Fulford showed some early promise with a beautiful passing move down the right which ended in Luke as the meat in a Bishopthorpe sandwich. Unlucky not to get a free kick, Luke carried on despite the heavy knock.

A pattern soon emerged as Bishopthorpe forced corner after corner. This fixture always brings out the best in Joe who did not disappoint when swallowing up a fiercely struck close range volley from the Bishy striker. Further corners followed and a cruel deflection off Ethan made it 1-0.

Fulford were not without chances either and man of the match Luke combined really well in some tight spots with Jonathon whose passing was also catching the eye. Liam ploughed the furrow of the lone front man without complaint but was well shackled by a strong Bishopthorpe defence.

Another corner found a Bishopthorpe attacker free on the edge of the box. He had time to control it and make it 2-0.

Ethan ran tirelessly in defense, Sam L was putting in plenty of determined tackles and Harle was always available on the left. As the game wore on tired legs left Bushopthorpe with more openings. A foul on the left gave the big Bushopthorpe midfielder to fire in an unstoppable effort in the top corner with his cultured left foot.

A swift breakaway move and two more close range shots towards the end made it 6-0 to Bishopthorpe at the final whistle. Despite the score line, we have definitely come a long way this season already.
