Match report   It’s been 2 long months since the Foxes have graced a football pitch in anger and Stamford bridge were the perfect opposition to show us all just what we’ve been missing out on. In a thoroughly entertaining match the Foxes earned themselves a well deserved 1-1 draw at the Bridge.

The game started off very fast paced and the Bridge were 1st into their strides. In the opening 5 minutes they created a couple of good chances with Sofia once more coming to our rescue with a fine diving save and a great block in a 1 on 1 situation. 5 minutes and the Foxes were beginning to put some of their own moves together with Dani, Abby and in particular Amy and Emily linking up very well. Then in a fantastic move which started from our own penalty area Amy played a delightful ball to Emily who held the ball up well and played the ball back to Amy who continued her run and did the rest slotting calmly past the keeper into the bottom right corner. Emily was having a fantastic game up front, leading by example and came close a couple of times herself and almost setting Amy up for her second with a near post corner which the keeper did well to save.

At the other end the Bridge nearly scored with a header from a corner but Charlie did fantastically well to clear of the line. In another goalmouth scramble from a Bridge corner Sofia got down smartly on her goaline to save the Foxes once more.

Into the 2nd half, where the Foxes endured more pressure from the Bridge, but were doing brilliant job holding out with Sohie M, Sophie G and Charlie playing magnificently in defence and also getting in numerous goal saving blocks in the penalty area to keep the Bridge out. Up the other end Beth Weeks was making some good inroads of her own into Bridge territory down the left almost putting Emily in the clear on a couple of occasions. With 6 minutes left on the clock in a very neat move the Bridge broke clear of our defence and Lily (I think) struck a low powerful shot into the bottom right corner. For once, nothing Sofia could do to stop the goal. 1-1. From there the game was evenly matched with us creating a couple of chances, one from a great free kick from Emily which the goalie did well to keep out and another with Emily combining well with Amy, for Amy to get into the box only to be denied by some smart goalkeeping.

Great game, great entertainment for the support and well done girls, it is an excellent result to come to the Bridge and earn yourself a draw. Girl of the game – Emily. Kept her position very well up front, held the ball up extremely well and was unselfish with her passing setting up the goal for Amy. Also very unlucky not to register on the scoresheet herself. Well done Emily.

Bring on the Tigers!
