| Match report | After a tough winter schedule Fulford arrived eager to continue the promise their recent play had shown without reward against some tough opposition. With Spring in the air Fulford put on a fitting display for the Outgang send off. The first half was a tentative affair, with Fulford struggling to string any moves together. Jack and Adam had to be on their toes to snuff out any Woodthorpe breakaways which was always a danger as Fulford pushed forward en masse. Liam led the line superbly with Sam always available on the right and Luke on the left. At half time Ethan had remained untroubled and so it continued in the second half as Fulford began to lay siege. Joe came on on the right and suddenly things began to click. A string of corners finally paid off with Jonathon’s dangerous delivery from the right falling to Luke on the far post who slotted home for a deserved opener. Sweeping moves involving Liam, Joe and Luke were reminiscent of Messi Suarez and Neymar as all three proved a threat. Another Jonathan corner on the right soon followed as did a carbon copy of the opener from Luke at the far stick again to make it 2_0. The boys visibly grew in confidence – and should have been 3-0 up soon after as Joe’s spectacular left footed volley from distance bounced over the Woodthorpe keeper. He scrambled back to claw it away. Unfortunately goal line technology has not yet reached the York Mitchell u10 league and it was only at the end of the match that the keeper revealed it had crossed the line. Shortly after Joe whipped in a powerfully struck half volley that beat the keeper all ends up only to skew off the post across the face of goal. Who was there but Johnny-on-the-spot, Luke, to claim his hat trick. The final score was a morale-boosting 3-0 win with man of the match hat-trick hero Luke asking if he could take the match ball home! |
