Match report   Fulford won their first ever tournament thanks to a fantastic display by all 10 of the players in the squad.

The first game v Strensall was a tight affair, with a long range strike from Joe C proving decisive.

Next up was York Cubs whp were very unlucky not to get a draw. They hit the bar at 0-0. Fulford went 1-0 up, but the moment of the match was a superb off-the-line clearance from James Carr who headed it out for a corner from right under his own crossbar, which saw him mobbed by his team mates as they knew it was a crucial clearance.

Rawcliffe B followed. A commanding midfield performance from Ross, Frankie & Joe I set the tone for a convincing 5-0 win.

Rufforth were the next opponents. This was a very tight game which finished 0-0.

Hamilton Panthers were the final group opponents. Fulford knew we needed a draw to top the group, but Panthers needed a draw to also go through. However this proved to be arguably the game of the tournament. Fulford went one nil up in the first half, but Panthers threw everything at Fulford knowing they faced going out. Will broke away one on one and hit the bar, the 3 Panthers players who had very courageously chased back, cleared the resulting scramble and broke away with a fine passing move to equalise. The Panthers players went deservedly crazy in celebrating an excellent team goal!

In the semi-final, we faced Easingwold. It was 0-0 going into extra time. A great run down the right by Tom G saw him put in a great cross. Will and Joe I pounced and both bundled the ball across the line.

In was Rawcliffe in the final. The first half was tight, with Joe I having a header ruled out by the ref, who had seen a foul on the goalkeeper. Rawcliffe started the second half strongly, but Will got the crucial goal with a well taken finish when one on one with the keeper. Will and Frankie then had chances to add another, but had shot which went narrowly wide and over. In the dying seconds Joe I hit the post and the ball broke to Rawcliffe, who broke away. Harrison however marshalled the attacker wide of goal so that the resulting shot could be well saved by Tom H. The final whistle sounded shortly after and the Fulford players all celebrated wildly, before commiserating with the Rawcliffe opponents who had given everything.

Many thanks to Phil Sanderson and Barry Casterton at Hamilton Panthers for again organing a 1st Class Football Tournament.
