Match report   Ripon away this time, where the goal areas curiously stretch nearly as far as the corner flags and instead of the Mole problem that we put up with, the Ripon coach was requiring a bucket and spade to deal with other deposits littered around the pitch!

On with the game and in a very even 1st half, the Foxes created the better of the chances with 1st of all Abby breaking clear after a nice interchange of passes between Sophie M and Amy, for Abby to hit a great shot which looked all the way a goal, but just moved in the last few feet to hit the post. Then a few minutes later, Sophie M made a surging run from midfield to pick up a great pass off Amy, only to strike the ball at the goalie.

Dani also made some great little runs down the right, and was unlucky that her final ball into the box was just missing our advancing strikers.

Up the other end, Sofia had to be very smart of her line a few times to act as a sweeper behind the back 3 and also pulled off a couple of smart saves. Half time and it was all square at 0-0.

Into the 2nd half and perhaps Ripon enjoyed more possession in the 1st half and the Foxes were playing as a typical away team should on the break, but breaking quickly and in numbers and were always the more threatening. In a succession of corners for the Foxes both from Abby and Sophie M, we came very close in a number of goal mouth scrambles, but just didn’t have that little fox in the box to stick the ball away! The foxes were also taking a bit of a battering from the opposition and it seemed that a lot of fouls were going unchecked so well done girls for standing up to it and not letting it affect your game! Laura in particular was completely taken out after out foxing a Ripon girl with her guile and artistry down the left. Shame the ref didn’t speak to the girl in question who continued to foul our players unchecked, even getting to grips with 1 or 2 of our ladies poneytails! You can tell I wasn’t happy about it!

Up the other end, Sofia had to make a few more smart saves, but in all our defence of Sandy, Sophie G, Josie and Beth coped well with the Ripon forward line. Just need to work on our passing from the back as it was going astray a little too often for my liking.

Game over and a well earned away point for the Foxes. Girl of the game: Sofia – Pulled off some smart saves and was an excellent sweeper behind the back 3. Well done Sofia!
