| Match report | Tough league game this mornining away at Brooklyn a very big strong team, where we new we would have to match them physically first then play football when we got the chance. I have to mention our warm up this morning which didn't go well, Sam and Dave mentioned this before the game and we knew we would be slow to start because of this. They were right and the first half was a struggle we never got a foothold in the game , slow to the first ball and never won either the first or second ball ,we were on the back foot and under a lot of pressure. To our credit we dug in and only conceded one goal, we replied with a goal of our own from a conner which Joe R played Matty in to score when they had tried to clear the corner. The second half started the same as the first but we had asked Harry to mark thier best player who had been causing us a lot of problems with his strength and pace. This started to pay dividens as we were getting the ball more often and they wern't able to play through this lad. Unfourtunatly as we were gaining confidence we conceded from a free kick which was pumped into the box and a lot of pressure putt on the defence ( this was their main tactic ). The lads never let this affect them and Pip got us back on terms with a well taken goal where we had opened them up with some great passing. We were now flying and playing some great football the ball was spending less time in the air and more time on the deck as we took control. We wraped it up with five min to go with another great passing move from back to front which ended up with pip scoring the winner. We had a couple moe chances to seal the game and a stone wall penalty claim turned down but we won a very tough game. The lesson today was that somtimes in a game you have to dig in and work hard but eventually the time to play good football comes and to use this to put the game to bed. We did this and although it wasn't a vintage performance it was a ground out win. |
