| Match report | Fulford won a hard-thought contest 5-3 in their first 11-a-side game of the season. The first 30 minutes were a very tight affair, with no real clearcut goalscoring opportunities. Rufforth went one nil up after about 40 minutes when a long ball over the top of the Fulford defence, found the Rufforth striker who managed to hold off the challenges of the Fulford defence to score with an excellent finish into the bottom right hand corner. Fulford hit back immeadiately and equalised when a Rufforth defender sliced a clearance across his goal, which was met by a powerful headed finish by Joe I. Fulford took the lead soon after when a good move down the left culminated in Will curling the ball into the right hand corner from the edge of the box. Rufforth soon equalised when they won a penalty, which was coolly dispatched into the bottom left hand corner. Fulford re-took the lead when Ross got on the end of a Joe C cross to finish from close range. Tom H added a fourth when he ran on to a through ball from Will and rounded the keeper to score. Harrison got the fifth goal with a well struck angled shot into the far left hand corner. The final thirty minutes were again fairly tight. Rufforth pulled a goal back when they burst through the defence and scored with a well taken finish. It was a good all-round performance from Fulford as they adapted to the 11 a side game, with outstanding performances from Peter and Harry in defence, some great touches and vision from Harrison in midfield and a good confident display of goalkeeping from Harvey. |
