| Match report | Fulford U11s played their final pre-season friendly of the season against Fulford U10s, who have always proved to be tough opposition over the last 3 seasons. The U11s started well and played some good possession football, but the U10s also put together some very good quick counter-attacking moves themselves. Fulford nearly took the lead when Ross hit a fantastic half-volley from 25 yards that hit the bar and went over. Fulford U11s did take the lead when the ball was partially cleared and fell to Isaac who shot from 30 yards. The ball skidded up visciously off the wet surface, giving the U10s keeper no chance. Ross nearly added to the lead when another long range effort bounced back off the post. The U11s went 2-0 up just before half time thanks to a fine solo run and curling shot by Will M. Just after half-time the U11s went 3 up when Tom B scored with a hard low shot from the left. Many sides may have let their heads drop, but to their great credit, the U10s showed great character and kept going and quickly scored two goals that their good passing deserved. The first came when a good move in midfield saw Callum put through and he very coolly rounded the keeper to score. Their second was near-identical, with this time Charlie rounding the keeper to score. The U11s added a fourth soon after when Isaac scored his second to complete a fine performance on his Fulford debut. The fifth goal came late on. Tom G scored from close range, but the referee has spotted an earlier foul and had awarded a penalty. Tom stepped up and scored with a powerful strike. All in all, it was a very good game to watch, with both teams looking to play quick attacking football, but the plaudits must go to a fine display by the Under 10s in their first ever game of 11 a side and we wish them every success during the forthcoming season. |
