| Match report | First game of the season, and after the game against the lads from Chile we were full of high hopes for today. The lads know that all season they will not meet a bigger more powerful team than them. We were without key men today due to the registration rules but took a 12 man team. Back 4 was regular with Guy, and Ben Centre and Will on R and Cam on L Midfield David an Arron Centre stage and Oli C ( L) and Oli D (R) up front Ross and Oli B. We got off to a good start and were comfertable on the ball and throughout the game we maintaned a certain composure that allowed the lads to grow in confidence. I think the main thing for me was how we dominated in the central roles at the back and Midfield positions Arron was everywhere today, and was rewarded with a goal approx 20 mins in to make it 1-0, David was cool and composed but it wouldnt go in the net for him today, although he could have had a half dozen on a different day. Guy was captain fantastic and was powerful and surged forward on a number of occasions. Ben what can i say it must have been his weetabix or something, nothing was going past him today he looked fit and ran the show, he was very vocal with his team in a positive way, something we need to encourage further. on the right we were in control with an outstanding performance from Will H all were worth a mention Oli D was so close on 2 occasions Ross was hustleing and making breaks throughout, Frankie came on and was straight into it and played really well. 1/2 time came and while i was pleased with the performance there was that niggling doubt that we hadnt finished them off. all around the field we controlled, the hardest time we were having was againts thier right sided winger but Oli C and Cam T were working to control him. Billy was stopping things that came his way Oli B was all over between midfield and up front and causing problems. But we had not quite put the game to bed. we made a switch which proved fruitful Cam T was put up front and Oli C took over at L Back, it was a big risk as that was New Earswicks most dominant position on the field on the left. We always looked dangerous through the match Cam looked the part up fron and quickly put a fantastic goal in from the left side near the corner flag 2-0 an then 10 mins later surged forward to bag his third 3-0 and job done. Great star to the season Man of the match was hard to call, Guy, and Aaron and David were all worthy as was Will and Frankie, but Ben Bailey was outstanding today and takes the recognition |
