Match report   Todays gane was a friendly against North Duffield, they are a first division side so we wanted to make a game of it for them.

Our first half performance was really very strong with all lads making a real go of it and taking the game to them.

I dont know what Ben Bailey had had for breakfast this morning but whatever it was it certainly did the trick, he commanded his box made save after save won the 50-50 balls and he didnt just make saves he stopped shots it was a fantastic performance that frustrated the opposition. Well done Ben a great perfromance from beginning to end and a well deserved man of the match.

The back four played really well there were a couple of occasions where we didnt clear it assertivley and we got punished, you do expect that when playing a first division side, in the first half we were well in control of the game and that came from the defence.

Scott played on the right against there fast winger and he kept him at bay, he was unlucky to concede the penalty but thats just the way it goes, it wasnt a dleiberate thing, and i felt more sorry for Gav Cowley running the line who had to flag it as it was clearly a hand ball with a raised arm in the box.

Guy and Frankie linked together well in the middle of defence and made clearance after clearance to keep North Duffeild at Bay they were also sending balls over the top to the two big lads up front.
Cameron T on the left has been a tremendous additon to the team he is very sure footed and clears the ball really strong when we are in a tight spot and today was no exception.

Seth on right of midfield showed confidence and put in some great balls and Aaron and James in the centre of midfield dictated the play in the first half and put balls over the top for Chris and david Oli B on the left showed a real determination and was in the thick of a lot of the battleing in the first half.

Chris and David played up front and were very dangerous. North Duffeild had gone ahead through the penalty and they linked up well with midfield and everytime they made an attack together they looked like scoring, we equalised through a very well taken goal from a David Thompson header and the game was ours to take.

I guess that was where we didnt take the advantage it was 1-1 at half time and we were full of confidence.
But we just didnt put it in the net.

In the second half we lost our heads of steam a little it was a big pitch and the sun was warm, we introduced the subs Oli C and Dan Blacker who was on his debut both came on and played some good stuff but North Duffeild were begining to get a little more of a hold on the game we were begining to flag and we swapped it around a little to try and do something different we were really unlucky to concede again. as Ben had made save after save, and we just couldnt clear it in time and they struck and it went in, no ones fault just the run of the ball.

We had lost the initiative yet we kept goiung forward we kept clearing, and it was a real blow to concede again.

The score line flattered North Duffeild and we deseved something from the game, putting it into perspective they are first division side who were at home and they didnt show us up at all.

It is really starting to come together we are getting stronger as a squad and the new lads are giving us some flexibility to play aorund a little with the squad and see people in new positions.

Next week we are away to Brooklyn we always put up a good show against them and this game was a good training session for them.

Things to learn from today and practice in training.

We need to use the wide men a little more most of the play was going through the middle today.

And a little more assertive play there were a couple of times today where two of our lads were going for the same ball, we failed to put a name on it and the oppositon took advantage.

Other than that great game yet again well done and more of the same.
