| Match report | Another win for 'Ford against a useful Barmby Moor side. A bright opening from 'Ford failed to break the deadlock and as the first half progressed the opposition came into the game and caused a few anxious moments for Ford. Half chances came and went but the deadlock was finally broken when Sam Harro crossed for Steve Jarvis to convert at the back post. However Barmby Moor pressure paid dividends towards the end of the half as Toddy, who was outstanding today, was adjudged to have fouled a Barmby player in the box. The resulting penalty was converted into the top corner with Aaron having no chance of making a save. 1-1 at half time and P demanded an improvement in the second half; again the contest was closely fought and P thought long and hard about changing things round. Josh B-N came on and did well up front and Olly Souter entered the fray to work up and down the left flank. With less than 10 to go P made the change he'd been deliberating moving Toddy into centre mid and dropping Jamie into the back 4. And what a move it turned out to be... A break down the left and a squeezed ball into the box was met by Toddy bursting into the box to beat the keeper and seal the 2-1 win. Both Olly and Richard Iggulden, who came on as a late substitute, had further chances for Ford with Olly steering a left foot shot wide and Richard bringing a fine save from the keeper with a header at the far post just before the final whistle. So a tough game and not one of 'Ford's better displays but the winning streak goes on, and its now 6 games since a goal was conceded in open play. Cup games coming next week and the week after then its back to Barmby Moor for the return fixture. Onward and upward... |
