| Match report | Depending on whether you are a cup half-empty or half-full person, this was home points dropped for the second weekend running or the continuation of an unbeaten run for the Under-15s. The long-suffering Gabbiadini Senior is in the former camp - despite the Board's support issued last week for the long-suffering coach, his disappointment was obvious as he seeks to increase the hunger and work-rate in the team. However, the conditions were challenging and Pickering was probably the biggest and best team we have faced this season so far. The first 15 minutes were all Pickering with wind advantage, but the defence held firm and, with Emlyn and Gabbiadini Junior at their most stalwart, 'the Country Boys' had very few genuine chances. Despite losing Tom Russell to injury mid-way through the first half, Fulford got themselves back into the game with some indomitable midfield work from Harry Bedford, Karl Brewer, Ben Plaxton and Joe Tomsett. The balance of play altered further in the second half with the majority of possession and territory coming Fulford's way. Dan Ford and Liam Richmond punched holes from the left into the Pickering midfield and defence, and Josh Quarmby became more and more influential from an unfamiliar midfield position. The anxiety began to show on the visitors' faces as Alex Forster and Josh Moran found more space and forced a torrent of Fulford corners from which Scully twice went close with headers. As the game petered to the first 0-0 draw of the season in either division of the Under 15s, Fulford looked like the only team who could sneak a win with Will Paver having little to do between the posts all afternoon. Scouts attending from next week's challengers, Osbaldwick, would have left realising that Fulford are not only the best-dressed side in the division (with their spanking new kit on display for the first time this season) but have promotion ambitions very much intact. |
