Match report | The team played much more of their hard-working passing football in the second game. We went 1-0 down very early on, but then really got going. The remainder of the first half was really competitive, and by half time we had the Heworth defence under a lot of pressure. We lost a scrappy goal early in the second half, and the team became disorganised – just like last week. Once again most of the play ended up in our half. Heworth scored a third goal, but even then we created one or two really good chances to get on the score-sheet. I think today showed how easily a well-organised passing team like Heworth can dominate the Tigers if we give the ball away easily and don’t try hard enough to get it back again. But at the same time it showed we can compete very well and create plenty of scoring chances when we do the good things we’ve been building on in the last three matches – everyone in the team making it difficult for our opponents when they have the ball and giving lots of attacking options for the player on the ball when we’re in possession. One player who made a big contribution today was Henry, returning after breaking his arm and showing his usual mixture of skill and determination on the ball. He’s our Player of the Day. Tim Regan |
