| Match report | Resurgent 'Ford back to winning ways in style! After back to back defeats it was yet another big game for a 'Ford side whose confidence could have been badly shaken by last week's turnover at Ouseburn, especially against a Selby side who had beaten the much hyped F1 team last week. Again selection shuffles were required in the build up to ko but 'Ford started brightly and a steady build up of pressure eventually brought the breakthrough with Jamie beating several Selby players outside the box before coolly slotting his shot past the despairing dive of the Selby keeper. So 1 up for a change instead of 1 down! More 'Ford pressure led to corners from left and right and the pressure told as Sam Harro rose to meet Sam Peppers cross to steer the ball past the keeper with a powerful header. 2-0. A scare for 'Ford followed as the Selby captain returned Arran's clearance fom the edge of the Selby box and managed to beat Arran and miss by a yard. 2-0 at HT and 'Ford needed to press for the third to provide the breathing space the performance deserved. More 'Ford chances came and went as Dave and Sam H caused the Selby defence no end of problems and then Harro got just reward for his efforts by bagging the third from the spot after a mesmerising run from Jamie saw him up-ended in the box. Selby became limited to the odd break but the defence coped with any threat with solid performances from Arran and the back four. Sam Pepper who had narrowly missed in the first half bagged 'Ford's last goal whilst Selby managed to get on the score sheet with a penalty late on, despite being down to ten men after a late sending off for a second yellow. So a great performance from the Fulford 13 and renewed hopes for promotion; there's a long way to go yet but more performances like this will help the bus get to the finish line. Onward and upward... |
