| Match report | Well what a game and what a result, out of all the games i think we have ever played this i think was by a long shot one of the most frustrating games i have known. We were doing very little wrong really NE were a decent side and were commited to trying to secure a victory and they took the lead with a pretty early goal, whihc was on the back of our dominance they were breaking well and punished us 1-0 to them. At this point the managment team were quietly composed the game was tight and we couldnt determine where we neded to change things the back four were solid, Midfield were on to things and we were getting balls down the wings, but we just were not scoring, we hit a few loose balls and it was boggy 1-0 at half time and we were starting to get a little worried it had been so tight that we hadnt evan rolled a sub. so any substitution from then on in were not tactical or experimental as we like them to usually be they were just to make it so lads got a run out. As usual the pitch was very boggy and this was hampering us ans seemed to suite them we like to paly not scrap, however we remained by far the stronger side and had them pracitcally pinned but hitting us on break. now we were strating to panic we had what looked a good goal disallowed some of the refs calls were a little hard to swallow although we did swallow with dignity. eventually we drew level through David with a well taken goal but we had a few close calls we kept pushing and pushing, they were time wasting when a goal up and this didnt change whne levle whihc did indicate their intent at this point to get something from the game, in my opinion a dangerous tatic. at the end of some relentless pressure from us we got a break the ref seemed to be calling against us, David was slammed down just outside their area, up stepped Ben with one hell of a free kick and contender for goal of the season he put it in the back of the net from 25 yards absolutley superb and dramatic climax to a fantastic yet frustrating game of football. Its winning these type of games that makes the difference it was the last kick of the game and full time 2-1 to us. Oli carroll had his best performance of the season today and gets man of the match well done. and well done lads |
