| Match report | Congratulations Tigers! We were strong at both ends of the field today - with some very good attacking play and a defence that gave Rufforth very few scoring chances. A number of our players stood out, but much of our success was down to hard work by the whole team in getting back to defend and forward to support the attacks. Well done all of you. In the first game we had plenty of attempts on goal, but were stopped many times by tremendous keeping by Rufforth's goalie. Henry finally managed to beat him, then Rufforth scored an equaliser shortly before half time. In the second half they took the lead, but the Tigers came back to score twice (both goals to George) to win the game 3-2. In the second game chances were fewer as both sides began to tire. Rufforth scored first, but the Tigers continued to work very hard and were rewarded by another two goals for George in the second half; final score 2-1 to Fulford. Tigers goalkeepers today were Oscar and Alfie - well done to both and thanks to Alan for his advice and encouragement I thought Nathan had a great game in defence, and George played well in all areas of the field, but the player of the day award went to Henry for another non-stop display, good work supporting the keepers, and the opening goal. I'd just like to say again though that the whole team was good today, and it was the work by all of you that led to our wins. And great to see more and more passing and finding space! |
