Match report   Fulford had the privilege of welcoming York City Under 11s to our Fulford Secondary School home, in what probably is the closest a York City side has played to the site of their former Fulfordgate ground, since York City left for Bootham Crescent in 1932.

The match was eagerly anticipated by the Fulford players as it gave an opportunity to play against former teammate, Harvey, who had joined York City Under 11s last summer.

The match was played over three 25 minute periods to allow both teams to give plenty of match time to all of their squad, with the last of these periods divided in half, so that both teams had equal use of the very strong wind that was blowing straight down the pitch.

Fulford had the wind at their backs in the first half and were quickly on the attack. In the second minute they won a throw-in near the right wing corner flag. The ball was only partially cleared and Frankie put in a good first time cross. Will T was first to the ball in the six yard box and scored with a fine finish into the bottom right hand corner of the net.

York City were back on level terms after ten minutes when a good move led to a through ball down the inside right channel, which the York City forward slotted in to the far corner with a good finish.

Five minutes later and Fulford were back in the lead. A York City clearance fell straight to Will T. Will was about 25 yards out and left of centre, but showed great composure in lobbing the ball over the York City goalkeeper into the top right-hand corner of the net.

York City were level again five minutes later when Fulford had a number of chances to play the ball out of defence, but when the ball was crossed into the box on the fourth occasion a York City player was on hand to fire the ball into the bottom right hand corner.

In the second period of the match, York City had the wind in their favour and made the most of it by playing some good passing football to dominate the game in terms of both territory and possession. Fulford managed to keep the score level thanks to some excellent saves from Tom H and good work in defence, in particular from Isaac, who made one superb tackle that denied a certain goal. Peter was also having a very good game at left back, as he was up against a very tricky York City right-winger. However, in the final minute of the half, a York City forward was brought down just inside the area, and the resulting penalty was duly dispatched into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

Fulford made it 3-3 ten minutes later. Joe C picked up the ball in midfield and played a diagonal pass through for Ross to run on to. Ross checked inside the defender and squared the ball for Tom G, who scored with a good finish into the bottom left hand corner.

In the final period of the game, York City again had the advantage of the wind. They surged forward in search of a winning goal, as Fulford struggled to get out of their own half. Will T, who was now in goal for Fulford, made some great saves to keep the scores level, but with 7 minutes remaining York City finally got the goal that their pressure deserved.

Fulford by this stage were starting to tire and York City added another goal in the final minute to make it 5-3.
