| Match report | Fulford recorded their biggest win in a competitive fixture with a 9-0 win versus Woodthorpe. Fulford started strongly, but Woodthorpe lwere looking dangerous when they attacked down the left flank. After 5 minutes Will T ran onto a through ball and his shot took a slight deflection off the covering defender to give the keeper no chance. Will got the second 5 minutes later when he ran onto a throwin from Isaac and scored with a powerful shot that beat the keeper at the near post. Soon after a third was added when Joe I set off on a powerful run through the centre of midfield which took him past three players. He then picked out Joe C in the inside left position who then checked back inside and beat a couple of players before scoring with a cool finish into the bottom corner. The fourth came when Harrison squared the ball to Isaac just inside the box and Isaac scored with the outside of his right foot into the bottom left hand corner. Frankie got the fifth with a clever toe-poke finish into the bottom right hand corner. Will completed his hat-trick after 25 minutes when he ran onto to a through ball from Joe I, held off the last defender and scored with a powerful shot. Numerous positional changes and substitutions during the second half meant that Fulford lost a bit of their first-half fluency, but still played some good passing football. In the second half, Will again ran onto a through ball, this time from Harrison, and held his nerve to beat the advancing keeper. James scored the eigth from close range when he was on hand to tap in a cross from Tom B. Woodthorpe continued to push forward when possible, but were denied by some good defensive work from Joe I, Isaac and Frankie. Will scored his fifth, with what was probably his best goal of the five. He picked up the ball forty yards out with back to goal and turned past his marker. He surged past another defender into the box and scored with a well placed finish into the left hand corner of the net. It was an excelllent performance by the whole Fulford squad, which sets us up well for the remaining games of the season. |
