Match report   After another 3 week lay-off finally the Foxes had another game away to Knaresborough.

On with the game and the Foxes were 1st into their stride, this time showing better width than in previous games with Emily and Beth both using the full width of the pitch very well. The Foxes created the 1st clear cut chance after Amy made a great run to latch onto a through pass from Em for the keeper to pull off a great save. The Foxes were working the space well and Amy was unlucky once again to be caught just off side as Sophie M just dwelled to long on playing the through pass. Moments later in a carbon copy move Soph M learnt her lesson well after being berated by her caring manager on the previous occasion and played a splendid 1st time ball through for Amy to latch onto, round the keeper and put the Foxes one up.

Up the other end, Soph G, Georgie and Josie were coping well at the back remaining nice and compact and moping up any danger Knares had to offer in attack. Sof had to make one save of note coming smartly off her line to charge down a shot from an acute angle. Up the other end after Beth R and Laura came on, both of them made some good runs down the flanks, with Bet R doing well to dispossess a Knares defender coming close to scoring after shooting from a narrow angle. The half finished with the Foxes one to the good.

On with the 2nd half and this time the Foxes came under more pressure from Knares, but Sandy Soph A and Laura were all holding firm at the back. The Foxes did however create the better chances early on, with Amy once again running clear after latching onto a long throw, rounding the keeper to be thwarted by a last ditch tackle. Abz , Soph, Georgie and Em all came close with some longer range efforts, however after 15 mins into the 2nd half the Foxes sealed victory. Amy picked up the pieces on the Foxes left and bustled her way into the Knares penalty area and after holding off challenges from a couple of Knares defenders unleashed a great shot into the bottom right corner. Soon after a nicely worked corner straight from the training pitch Emily stormed into the area to square for Soph M to notch up her 1st of the season. Amy had another chance to make it 4 late on but it wasn’t to be and the match ended 3-0 to the Foxes.

Girl of Game: Laura The Foxes defence came under a lot of pressure, especially in the 2nd half but held firm, with Laura putting in a number of goal saving tackles. Well done Laura.

So all in all a good performance from the Foxes. Shape looked better in the 1st half. We looked a little ragged I have to say in the 2nd, especially in midfield where we didn’t have the same width as in the 2nd half and the central midfielders were not providing the sort of protection I expect in front of the back 3. Still we the back 3 defended magnificently and it was great to notch up our 1st clean sheet of the season. Challenge is now to record another 9 clean sheets for the rest of the season and win the cup! You can do it girls!
