Match report | Another great win following on from last week's thrashing of Huntington. We played Poppleton off the park in the first half and went in 4-0 up. Alfie opened the scoring with a powerful shot from the edge of the area. We camped in the Poppleton half for much of the first half with Damian adding 3 more goals, including a superb header. Our defence looked strong in the first half with Simeon hunting down their striker and winning every challenge. Alfie also made an excellent contribution, including some great distribution upfield. In the second half we struggled to keep up the same level of energy and momentum, although we did still create chances. Poppleton didn't give up and found us a bit more stretched at the back as the game went on. We pushed up a bit too much and got caught three times - something we need to learn from in the coming weeks. That said, it was a very encouraging performance overall. Player of the match was Damian for (yet another) hat-trick. |
