Match report   The draw for the League Cup Semi-Final provided Fulford with only their second ever meeting with Pocklington Town. The previous game being a narrow 3-1 win in the autumn of the U9s season. This game was always likely to be a tricky tie, particularly as it had been brought forward a week and was now sandwiched between Friday and Monday Fulford Derby's between St.George's and St.Oswold's, in which 10 of the team were involved.

Fulford went ahead after just two minutes when Will M crossed from the right. The keeper turned it on to the post and Will T was quickest to the rebound to turn the ball in.

Fulford were having the better of the game, but Pocklington were well organised and very hard-working and always looked a threat when they broke out of defence down the wings.

Fulford nearly made it two nil, when Will T raced away down the right and crossed for Ross, who slid in at the far post, but could not quite get on the end of it.

In the second-half the same pattern of play continued. Tom H was having a very quiet time in goal, due to the excellent work of the Fulford defence, but at only one nil, in a semi-final, it ensured that it was a tense affair.

With 15 minutes to go, Fulford put together a great passing move in their own half which saw Frankie play in Isaac, who broke through on goal. Isacc appeared to be in his own half when the ball was played, but the linesman raised his flag. The referee appeared to wave play on and Isaac ran in on goal. A covering defender managed to get back, but Isaac checked inside him and from the edge of the box hit a great left foot shot into the bottom right corner, which seemed to be the goal to clinch the tie. However, as the players were making their way back to the centre circle, the original offside decision was given and Pocklington were awarded a free kick inches from the half-way line.

Fulford were not to be denied, as two minutes later they got the crucial second goal. Isaac took a right wing corner that dropped to Will M at the near post. Will laid it back to Isaac, whose cross found Joe I just inside the right-hand edge of the box. As the defenders closed him down, Joe let the balll run across him and curled the ball into the top left hand corner of the net.

Will T nearly got a third but was denied by an excellent covering tackle from the Pocklington left-back who had a great game throughout.

In the last minute Joe C nearly made it three, but the keeper pulled off a great reflex save to turn the ball over for a corner.

The win was much deserved and sends Fulford through to a Cup Final at York City's Bootham Crescent ground on Thursday 10th May.
