Match report   In the penultimate game of the season, the Foxes were up against Poppleton Tigers, looking to salvage some pride from what has been a disappointing season for the Foxes.

It took a few minutes for the Foxes to get into their stride, but in the open 15 minutes the Foxes looked like a team reborn. For the large part the Foxes were camped in the Tigers half and exerting all the pressure on the Poppy goal. Finally the pressure paid with Amy showing some great strength to bustle through a few challenges to run free on goal and apply the finishing touch. All looking so good for the Foxes! After that we continued to dominate up to around the 20 minute mark, when in a rare excursion up the Foxes end of the pitch, Poppy earned themselves a corner. Unfortunately the Foxes concentration dropped allowing the Tigers to get to those important aerial challenges first to force the equaliser. After that, the focus and strength the Foxes had previously shown completely evaporated. The next 6 goals were a bit of a blur and the game finished 7-1 to the Tigers.

All in all, this game was a very symptomatic of the form we have shown throughout the season. We have shown that we are capable of competing with and outplaying the best in the league for bursts of 10 or so minutes. Unfortunately for us we’re unable to maintain that focus and intensity of play for the full game and that has cost us dearly during this season’s campaign. This is something we need to work on and I believe boils down to how intensely as a team you are prepared to work during training. At the moment I would say that you’re working at 50% at best and that’s being rather generous.

The season isn’t over yet and I believe we are capable of salvaging some glory in the tournaments, but to do that you’re going to have to be prepared to push yourselves really hard. It’s like with anything in life you want to be successful at, you have to work hard earn that success. It simply won’t be handed to us on a plate!
