Match report   Fulford A played the opening game of the Goole Tournament versus Pollington Reds, with David in goal making his competitive Fulford debut. Fulford started slowly but still managed to dominate possession, but could not create any clear cut openings. Fulford were then hit by the classic sucker-punch as with their first attack Pollington scored with a well struck long range shot that found the bottom corner. Fulford could have equalised when a long range shot by Joe was saved by the keeper, the re-bound fell to Ross, but his shot went narrowly wide.

In the 2nd game Fulford faced Hessle Sporting Spitfires. Fulford started brightly and were ahead after 3 minutes. Isaac picked up the ball on the right wing, but the Hessle defender shepherded him towards the corner flag and the danger appeared to be over, but Isaac produced a neat Cruyff-turn that bought him a bit of space which allowed him to cut inside and hit a powerful left foot shot that beat the keeper at the near post. Hessle soon hit back and scored an excellent goal following a length of the field move. The game looked to be in the balance and Fulford could have re-taken the lead when a volley from Joe flashed across goal and went narrowly wide. Hessle however scored two more excellent goals and Fulford went down to a 3-1 defeat against a side who looked as good as any we’ve faced in the last couple of years.

The third game was against Park Tigers A from Scunthorpe. Fulford weren’t at the races for this game and were soon one down and then two down after a wind assisted lob. The tigers added a third goal to complete a 3-0 win.

The fourth game was against Askern A. Askern scored first, but Fulford equalised when Ross played the ball in to Frankie who squared the ball to Isaac who hit a fantastic right-foot half-volley that screamed into the bottom left hand corner of the net.

The 5th game was versus Goole Rangers. Both teams were going for the win, which resulted in an entertaining end to end contest. Goole had the first good chance, but were denied when Peter was quickly off his line to make an excellent blocking save., and Fulford were later thankful to David for making some good last-ditch tackles to deny Goole. Fulford got the winner with about two minutes left. Joe broke through on the right, but the keeper was quickly off his line to close down the angle. Joe knocked the ball past him towards Frankie, who looked to steer the ball in from a tight angle, but as a defender got back to make a clearance, Isaac was on hand to tap the ball in to give Fulford a 1-0 win and ensure that he'd finish the season with a goal per game ratio, which is a great achievement for a midfield player.

The sixth game was against Howden Blacks and finished as a 0-0 draw thanks to some good work in defence from David and good saves from Peter.

The final game was against Hessle Rangers A. Fulford had good spells of possession and half-chances but Hessle Rangers scored on two occasions when they were through two on one and when the ball was player to the Hessle Ranger’s striker he produced two deadly left foot finishes, which meant a 2-0 defeat for Fulford and that they didn’t qualify for the ¼ finals.
