| Match report | Let's not get too carried away with being (more or less) top of Division 1 after the first weekend - remember the likes of Swansea in the past! But Fulford U16s can be thoroughly proud of this performance and 5-1 away result against a strong Tockwith side. Furthermore, it was achieved without their charismatic coach Signor Gabbiadini who was on a 'scouting mission' in Spain (which involves some vital beach and golf course work). His faithful lieutenant John Tomsett took the coaching reins together with loyal assistant Mark Sculpher. The makeshift management could not have wished for more from their charges, with each of the 14 squad members understanding the game plan and implementing it clinically. Three of the expensive new summer signings were on display - Danny in goal, Binno in the middle and Robbo up front - and each made outstanding contributions. More generally, the team performed wonderfully in all departments. In front of Danny, the defence of Emmo, Scully, Liam, Carl and Josh Q were rock solid and linked the play to perfection. The starting midfield of Joe, Binno, Bedo and Tom R worked their socks off and created chances all game, and Josh M and Will Pavs gave no inch when called upon in the second half. Up front Alex (2) and Robbo (2) put away the chances with aplomb (the 5th goal came from Bedo). Although Tockwith had large periods of possession, particularly in the first half, Fulford always looked able to score and ended up comfortable winners.
