| Match report | Fulford were without a League fixture as they were the odd team in 9, so again welcomed our friends from Kirbymoorside, with whom we’d shared 9 goals in a classic encounter back in April. Fulford picked up where they’d left off from Thursday’s match v Rawcliffe and were soon 2-0 up thanks to good finishing from Will and Isaac. Will was the brought down in the box, and from the resulting penalty, Joe I made it 3-0 with a well struck shot into the corner of the net. As the game approached half-time, Kirbymoorside pulled a goal back with an excellent curling shot, from outside the box, into the top left corner, that gave the keeper no chance. Within a minute the deficit was reduced to one when the Kirbymoorside striker intercepted a pass and ran through to score. Soon after half-time, Fulford made it 4-2 when Will finished off a tremendous length-of-the-field move. Fulford made numerous positional changes at this point, and in keeping with the warm weather more in keeping with the cricket season, appeared to “declare” on 4 goals! Kirbymoorside are however far too good a team to ease up against and they played some fantastic passing football to storm back into the game. Inspired by some good play in midfield from “Mr. T”, (best footballing nickname we’ve come across!), Kirbymoorside hit back with 4 unanswered goals to ensure that their plan came together with a 6-4 away win. Many thanks to Ian and all at Kirbymoorside for again coming to York for a very entertaining, high-quality friendly match. |
