Match report   Fulford returned to league action against newly-promoted Thorpe Blues, who had been done no favours by the fixture computer, as this game made it 3 opening games out of 3 against last season’s Top 3 in League 1.

Thorpe started the better side and nearly went one up when their striker cut in down the left and hit the left hand post and fell to another Thorpe striker. His shot was heading in, but Joe I had got back to clear the shot.

Thorpe did take the lead after about 12 minutes when a midfielder hit a well-struck shot from the edge of the box. Tom H managed to get his hands to it, but the Thorpe Striker was first to the re-bound to tap the ball in.

The first half was a fairly even contest, but Fulford were thankful that Tom H was on good form to keep the deficit to just one. There was plenty of good, tough tackling from both teams, with Harrison putting in some good challenges from a Fulford perspective.

For the second league came running, Fulford came out in the second-half and looked a completely different side. The equalising goal came after 3 minutes when a free kick was partially cleared by Thorpe and fell to Joe I who lobbed the ball back in over the Thorpe defence for Will to run on to. Will took the ball early with a half-volley to fire it past the keeper and into the net.

Fulford took the lead 10 minutes later when a right-wing corner from Isaac was met with a powerful header by Joe I 10 yards out that found the top left hand corner of the net.

The game was still in the balance, as Thorpe increasingly pushed additional players forward in search of an equaliser and Fulford again relied on some great goalkeeping from Tom H to deny them.

Fulford wrapped up the game 5 minutes from time when Isaac played in Will and he rounded the keeper to score. With two minutes remaining, Will returned the favour and Isaac lobbed the ball over the keeper to score.
