Match report | For today's second match Copmanthorpe brought in a number A-team players. We played 8-a-side, giving more game time for everyone. The Tigers' found Copmanthorpe's re-organised team a real handful, and we found ourselves going nowhere with the ball and desperately defending a long succession of attacks. It's great credit to the likes of Ryan, Harry and Charlie that Copmanthorpe were limited to 2 goals. As the second half approached its end Harry moved from full-back into the middle of the defence. This steadied things, and we ended the match on the front foot, with a half-chance for Alfie at the final whistle. Although the Copmanthorpe team was stronger than for the first game I think we could have coped better. Too often we were out-numbered at the back because the mid-fielders and a defender had gone charging up the field and lost the ball easily. This isn't the way we're going to win regularly with the players we have, and it's the reason we work so hard on looking up, passing and moving in training. |
