| Match report | After two weeks off due to the snow, it was back to league action for Fulford with a trip to York RI. Not surprisingly, following all of the snow, ice and rain in recent weeks, the pitch was very heavy, especially down the centre of the field. Fulford made a fast start and quickly got into a good rhythm of pass and move football. This created numerous chances for Fulford in the first 15 minutes, but they were denied on a number of occasions by some good saves by the York RI keeper. York RI looked dangerous on the counter-attack and they played some good balls up to their fast, tricky forwards. One such move saw a York RI striker go clear of the Fulford defence, but Tom H made a great one on one save, to keep the score at 0-0. Moments later Fulford opened the scoring when a good move down the right saw the ball cut back to Frankie, whose goalbound shot was deflected in to the near corner of the net. Fulford then went on to get the goals their excellent play deserved as Joe I, Will and Frankie added further goals to make it 4-0 at half time. In the second half, Will scored two quick goals to complete his hat-trick. With about 10 minutes left Frankie also completed his hat-trick thanks to a great team goal which saw the play switched from one side of the pitch to another, before Tom B crossed for Frankie to score at the back post. Choosing the Man of the Match was an especially difficult task after this performance as there were so many excellent contributions right throughout the team. In the end, it was impossible to split Ross and Tom B, who both used the ball well in possession, had great appreciation of space, and made a number of excellent runs into attacking positions. |
