Match report   It was another beautiful day for a game of football. This time the Foxes were up against a very well drilled and determined Tadcaster side who broke the Foxes hearts last year in the final of the Tadcaster football tournament. With Emily earning herself a well earned break at Center Parks to re-charge her batteries after her storming performance against Stamford Bridge a week earlier, Sophie Mole stepped up from defence into centre midfield with Amy moving up front and captaining the team.

The whistle went and they were off, with the Foxes kicking down the slope, wind assisted on a very narrow Tadcaster pitch. Maybe the Tad had brought the lines in the hope of nullifying our flying wingers after having a sneak preview in a friendly a couple of weeks earlier. This meant that play was more condensed through the middle of the park with Sophie Mole beginning to take control of affairs. It was mostly one way traffic, but after five minutes the Tad striker got in behind the Foxes defence and bared down on goal. Sofia as she does so well was quickly of her line pulling off a fine save. Minutes later Abby found herself in space down the left and found Sophie Mole in space at the box and Soph did the rest, side footing home to put the Foxes one goal to the good. The Foxes were now beginning to lay siege to the Tad goal and I think you could hear the screams from the Tad support in York every time it looked like we were going to score, with Amy coming close on a couple of occasions and Dani showing great awareness to win possession from a goal kick and just skimming the post from a fierce shot. Late on in the half, the Foxes earned themselves one of many corners. Sophie Mole took an undefendable corner coming off the back of a head of a tad defender and into the back of the net. Everyone stood still wondering how this goal was scored and whether we should celebrate it and the answer was yes. Good goal, well done Sophie Mole! That was the end of the 1st half 2-0 to the Foxes.

On with the second and this time, the Foxes were going up the slope wind against. This put a different complexion on the game and most of the play was down the Foxes end with most notably Sofia once again coming to our rescue diving to her right to pull off a marvellous save from close range and showing cat like reflexes. 10 minutes in and it was time for the cavalry. On came Laura, Abby and Beth Robinson for Sophie Mole, Dani and Beth Weeks who had all covered every blade of grass defending the Foxes 2-0 advantage. Within a minute from a throw in, Abby showed quick thinking to launch a long throw into the centre of the penalty area which Amy latched onto to coolly slot home to make it 3-0. Within a couple of minutes it was 4-0. This time Abby took and undefendable corner which the keeper parried into the net. 4-0 to the Foxes and game set and match. The Foxes with renewed vigour controlled the closing stages with more chances falling to Abby, Amy, Beth and Laura. With a couple of minutes left Tad managed a late consolation to raise some cheer amongst the Tad support. Great game, well played again Foxes. Girl of the game Sophie Mole who bossed the midfield scoring 2. I should also mention that Sophie G and Charlie played exceptionally well in defence on a really tricky pitch hardly giving the Tad strikers a sniff on the Foxes goal, so well done to you both and also to Abby with 2 assists and 1 goal to her name. The Foxes’ march continues!
