| Match report | The Tigers came up against two big, strong and tough-tackling Heworth teams this morning. We were beaten, but never stopped competing for every ball - even in the dying seconds of the match we came close to getting a goal back. Two players - Ben and Jack - started their first ever games for Fulford. Well done to both of them. For the second game Ben swapped over to the Lions team in exchange for George, so today's full Tigers line-up was Ryan B (cap'n), George, Ben, Jack, Thomas, Henry, Charlie, Alfie and Nathan. Four players took turns in goal; Henry, Alfie, Ryan and Jack. It wasn't an easy game for goalies, and all four deserve congratulations for giving it a good go. The first game looked like a pretty even contest for some time, until Heworth scored with a terrific shot. They scored again before half time, but Henry pulled one back for us early in the second half. We continued to battle hard, and had a few more shots of our own, but in the end it was Heworth who scored another three. The second game was similar, with chances for the Tigers but no goals and some very good individual and team goals scored by Heworth. A few of our players - most notably Thomas and Jack - also took a some hard knocks in the course of the match but came through to help out the team. I hope everyone's feeling ok now. All-in-all then, a good team effort in a tough match. As today's was a friendly match I understand we're not having an official Player of the Day award. However I'd like to pick out Jack for an extra mention because of his big contribution today from goalkeeper right through to attacker. Looking forward to Hamilton Panthers next week. Tim |
