| Match report | The start of the new season landed us a difficult away game at Poppleton Tigers. Three players made their competitive debuts, Connie, Lucy W & Zara all playing well on their first appearance. A tight start to the game saw both sides have early chances but Beth was looking very strong at the back and cleared the danger on a few occasions. Once Fulford got their passing going they started to take control of the game. Kirstin, who was playing a more central midfield role than last season was controlling the game with good solid passing. It wasn't long before the deadlock was broken by a shot from the edge of the box by Lucy D took a slight deflection but found its way into the bottom corner. Last year's leading scorer Jez opened her season's account soon after with a cool finish. Jez scored again before half time after a fantastic passing move from back to front. Half time score 3:0. The second half began with Jez completing her hatrick with a fine individual goal. The captain was on fire and after Poppleton had pulled a goal back she was fed in down the left by Kirstin and crossed from the left for Lucy D to make it 5:1. A repeat ball from Jez again found Lucy D at the far post to tap in to complete her hatrick. Poppleton then pulled another goal back before a long ball from Holly found Jez who ran though and scored with her left foot to complete the scoring with her fourth goal of the game. A great winning start to the season. Well played Fulford! |
