| Match report | On with the 2nd game and really do need to start my packing! Another fine display by the Foxes despite the total team change. Once again illustrating how lucky we are to have such fantastic strength in depth. So on with the game. The most notable action for the Foxes during the 1st half was down the left side of midfield where Elle had been promoted from defence. Elle slotted into the position perfectly despite asking the question before she went on “so where is left midfield?”. She was tenacious in the tackle and had 2 or 3 great runs and crosses into the box. It was a very evenly match 1st half with a couple of chances to either side finishing up 0-0 after the half time whistle. On with the 2nd half and a couple of minutes in a Dale player very cleverly got in behind the Foxes defence in the box to neatly slide the ball into the far corner. 1-0 to the Dale. The midfield quartet now comprising of Maisie, Sofia, Sophie G and Josie took control of affairs after the goal, maintaining good possession but not quite managing to open up the Dale defence. Then from a Dale corner which went straight into Sophie Mole’s hands, Georgie found herself in acres of space behind the Dale defence screaming at Sophie Mole for the quick ball over the top. Sophie duly obliged and Georgie found herself 1 v 1 on the goalkeeper and neatly slotted the ball into the back of the net. Then with a couple of minutes to go after some neat interplay in midfield, Sophie Grantham following up from her goal for Tad a week earlier found herself in space in the box with the goalie to beat. Unfortunately for Sophie, the goalie pulled of a magnificent save to deny her and the game finished one a piece. Girl of the game Georgie. Calm and collective when she needed to be, taking her one chance really well. |
