| Match report | A hatrick and a girl of the game performance from Captain Jez was the highlight of a good game between two good teams. Fulford started the game well with Elisha in fine form in central midfield and the heart of some fine football. Brayton were a threat going forward but the defensive partnership of Emma F & Beth held strong and gave good protection to Holly in goal. The opening goal came from a long kick downfield falling to Jez who took on the last defender and from the left hand side of the box smashed a low shot across the keeper into the bottom right hand corner of the net. Brayton then had a good 10 minutes leading to half time with a few shots from distance but were unable to equalise. Halftime 1-0. Kirstin replaced the impressive Emma H just before half time and Zara replaced Lucy D who was a constant threat down the right and delivered some very good corners. The tactical move opened up the midfield and Elisha took full advantage with a run from her own half to the byline where she delivered a great cross into the box where Jez met it with a great left foot strike that flew in off the post for her & Fulford's second goal. Lucy W then came on to support Jez upfront and played well. Brayton threw caution to the wind and had a good spell. One of a few corners lead to Beth handling in the box and a penalty being awarded. The Brayton striker struck a good penalty and was unlucky to see it rebound off the post. Zara had a good shot that went just over and a few minutes later had a header saved by Holly who prevented her from scoring an own goal. From the long kick Holly found Jez who, one on one with the keeper slotted the ball in for her hatrick and complete a 3-0 victory. |
