| Match report | A remarkable cup game saw division 2 side Wigginton come from 3-0 down at half time to beat Fulford 5-3 and knock them out of the cup. A very impressive result and well deserved. Fulford had the benefit of a strong wind in the first half and it wasn't long before Fulford took the lead after a good through ball from Paddy found Ryan who slotted in to the corner of the net. Paddy soon had a goal for himself and he scored from close range. Fulford went in 3 goals up when a header from Tom B found Rob in on goal and he cooly finished into the bottom corner. Then came the start of the comeback. With the strong wind now in their favour Wigginton pulled one back as the striker just beat Jack B to the ball to make it 3-1. The next incident probably changed the game as a great run from Luke into the box drew a foul and the ref pointed to the spot. With the opposition coach's protests still ringing in his ears Paddy stepped up to take the penalty. He struck it well but too close to the keeper who saved well. A mad few minutes followed as a good goal followed by a freak goal that bounced over Jack B to level the scores at 3-3 and the feeling was there was only going to be one winner from then on. A desperate tackle from Harry who was doing his best to get Fulford going again led to a penalty to Wigginton and the opportunity to take the lead for the first time. It was a brilliantly taken penalty into the bottom corner leaving Jack no chance. Wigginton then rounded off a great comeback soon after by scoring their fifth and the final goal of the game. |
