| Match report | Fulford went down to their first league defeat of the season away at Dringhouses. This was a good game of football with contrasting styles of play. Fulford tried to get the ball down and play while the home side preferred to play the ball long and hit the front man early. He was a real handful & gave the defence a real challenge. The first chance fell to Fulford after a superb through ball from Paddy set Tom A away but he was unable to convert the chance. The game was pretty even but it was Fulford who edged it after a great strike from James (Woody) who smashed a sharp chance into the top corner & Fulford lead 1-0 at half time. It wasn't long after the resumption that the home side drew level with an excellent piece of skill as the ball was flicked in with the players back to goal. As seems to be the norm at the moment, the conceding of one goal soon seems to be followed by another as the home striker was put through and he finished well to put them 2-1 up. Toby who had a good game was booked for a late challenge. Fulford trying to draw level had a couple of decent chances but couldn't score before the ball fell to Rob at the edge of the box and his sweet strike flew into the top corner for the best goal of the game and level the scores. As Dringhouses had drawn 4 of their games it looked like this game was heading for a draw when a free kick was awarded near the corner flag. His free kick appeared to be cleared off the line by Will but the referee adjudged the ball had crossed the line and awarded the goal to the home side and that ended up being the winning goal. |
